The national
standards
for under
eights day
care and
childminding
standard 7
states there
must be at
least one
member of
staff with a
current
first aid
training
certificate
on the
premises or
on outings
at any one
time. The
first aid
qualification
must include
training in
first aid
for infants
and young
children
which is
consistent
with any
guidance
issued to
local
authorities
by the
Secretary of
State.
This 12 hour course meets this guidance and is ideal for individuals who work with young children and babies. The course meets all guidance as laid down by the Pre School Learning Alliance, NCMA, OFSTED and Surestart.
Our course is assessed throughout the course by the trainer and at the end of the course by a short 20 question multiple choice paper to ensure retention of knowledge. We give plenty of hands on practice with regards to CPR, recovery position and bandaging so that your staff feel more confident by the end of the course.
This 12 hour course normally runs over 2 days and includes the following topics:

Acts & Regulations Governing First Aid (including OFSTED Regulations)
Responsibilities of the First Aider (including maintenance of an appropriate first aid kit, calling the emergency services, triage, action after an incident)
Primary Assessment
Top to Toe Survey
Recovery Position
CPR for Adult, Children & Babies
Choking for Adults Children & Babies
Asthma & Hyperventilation
Head Injuries
Conditions Affecting Circulation (including Shock, Heart Attacks, Angina, Fainting and Anaphylactic Shock, includes the effective use of an 'Epi Pen')
Bleeding
Bone, Joint & Muscle Injuries
Burns
Poisoning
Other Serious Illnesses (including Stroke, Epilepsy, Diabetes, Infantile Convulsions, Sickle Cell and Scarlet Fever)
